| Sandhills Cardiology Associates is a
relatively young practice founded in 2000 by
Dr 'Jide Lawal. The foundation of the practice
was based on providing the experience gained
in New York City and Rochester, New York to
the Sandhills area of North Carolina and provide the same level of care that are
currently available in big /urban cities to
the heartland of North Carolina. Prior to
this, residents of Richmond and Scotland
counties had to go to
Moore County, Duke or Charlotte to receive most of these
services.
The Mission of Sandhills Cardiology
Associates is to continue to bring state of
the art cardiovascular services to the door
step of the residents of Sandhills community
and in so doing, prevent residents from
having to go out of the community for
cardiovascular care.
Most of the cardiovascular procedures
previously done outside these towns are now
being performed locally by Sandhills
Cardiology Associates. Procedures such as
cardiac catheterization, insertion of
permanent pacemakers, EECP (External Enhanced
Counterpulsation Therapy) for severe angina
etc. Other procedures that have been expanded
on since we started are nuclear cardiology
services, echocardiography, transesophageal
echocardiography etc.
Our future goals are to continue to expand
on these services and to continue to bring
in more cardiovascular services to the local
residents.
The practice has also been engaged in
several public health programs to prevent
heart disease and to enlighten residents.
The practice providers have participated in
public education - such as the yearly Women's
Health Initiative at Scotland County in
February, the FirstHealth Public Health
program in April for residents in Rockingham
and the Health Fair provided by Sandhills
Regional Medical Center for the residents of
Hamlet.
The practice is committed to providing
continued support to local charitable
organizations such as NAACP scholarship funds
for student Summer Training Camps, Enrichment
programs, Scotland Humane Society, and the
United Way.
